Food 4 Thought – October Theme: Change

As you may know, our HEC Food 4 Thought hosts for October, Arlene Jones and Mary Malone, have chosen “Change” as their theme for the month. They have provided us with these new selections and questions for reflections. Please feel free to read, reflect and response in the comments section below!

Romans 13:11-12

You know what sort of times we live in, and so you should live properly. It is time to wake up. You know that the day when we will be saved is nearer now than when we first put our faith in the Lord. Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light.

  1.  What does it mean to you to “live in the light”?
  2. What is the meaning of “time to wake up”?

Ephesians 4:22-24

You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits. Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.

  1. If the Holy Spirit makes you into a new person, how would you be different?
  2. Describe a “truly holy” person.

Quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise, we harden.”

  1.  Do you believe this?
  2. Have you ever wanted to “re-invent yourself? why?
