Here are the next selections and questions for reflection from our Food 4 Thought November hosts, Jane Fiore and Ilse Koerper. Their November theme is “Resilience”!
“Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it’s less good than the one you had before. You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you’ve lost, or you can accept that and try to put together something that’s good.”
― Elizabeth Edwards
We have all had to accept our new reality. Some of us may have screamed
about what we have lost,( and maybe are continuing to scream ). And some of us have begun to accept it, move forward and have “put together something that’s good.”
Questions for Reflection:
1. What have you screamed about?
2. What good things have you put together?
We can find solace, comfort and nourishment from God and each other.
1 My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! 2 Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn! 3 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. 4 For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. “
Questions for Reflection: 1. How have you found comfort?
2. How can you be a source of comfort to others?
And finally: the Space shuttle that launched this weekend has been named Resilience!! NASA says that it was chosen “to honor those who have suffered hardship and oppression in 2020 and to the enduring and resilient nature of humanity to preserve through difficult times.”
